Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber has announced that South Africa is set to launch its fully digital Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for short-term tourist visas by the end of September!

According to Tourism Update, this innovative digital visa system will initially be available for visits under 90 days and is part of a broader government initiative to digitise visa processing and enhance border control.
The Border Management Authority will oversee the implementation, starting at major international airports and eventually extending to cover all visa categories.

Powered by artificial intelligence, the ETA system promises faster turnaround times and improved security measures. Schreiber noted, βThe ETA will include world-class cybersecurity systems and live monitoring by AI-powered risk engines,β ensuring a safe travel experience for all visitors.
