Ten Things You???ve Been Wanting to Know About SEO: Part Two

Ten Things You’ve Been Wanting to Know About SEO: Part Two

Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, is one of the most important tools when it comes to marketing yourself and your business online. SEO, if used correctly, sends important organic traffic to your website. It’s something that can save you a lot of time and money. Here is part two of our SEO guide for beginners to help anyone starting out answer some of the most commonly asked questions.

    6. What is the difference between Alt Text and Image Title?

The Alt Text informs the search engine of the content of the image, whereas the Image Title is what appears when a user hovers their mouse over an image. An Alt Text is important for SEO, while an Image Title is more important for user convenience.

    7. Why are Meta Titles and Descriptions important?

By including your focus keyword in your meta titles and descriptions, you are explaining to search engines exactly what it is you are offering. Your search results will look professional and consistent when they appear on search engines if you adhere to the character limits. That’s reason enough for using them correctly!

    8. How do you know which keywords to pick?

Simple answer: Keyword Research. Companies like Google and Moz have Keyword Tools that help you see how many times a month on average each keyword is searched for. This will help you determine the most accurate and, again, relevant, keyword for each of your pages.

    9. Why can’t I just put my keywords in every paragraph on every page?

This is known as Keyword Stuffing. Search Engines can pick up on this frowned-upon practise and penalise your website. Instead of improving rankings, you’ll most likely see a fall in search result placement.

    10. How long will it take for me to see results?

Like the cliche goes- Rome wasn’t built in a day. While you will see slight traffic increases initially, significant results will take 3-6 months to reflect, depending on the level of SEO you are implementing.
